Truck Is Popular As Heavy Duty Vehicles

November 17th, 2008

The word ‘truck’ is believed to be a derivative of Greek word – “trochos” which takes the meaning of a wheel. Lorry is yet another term used in this conjunction in United Kingdom whereas wagons with large wheels are known as trucks in North America. Pickup trucks, semi trucks, GMC trucks are the variants that are available. In countries like New Zealand and Australia a small vehicle with open back is known as ‘ute’ (abbreviated form of ‘utility vehicle’) or also known as pick-up. In the US only large vehicles used in commercial purposes are called as trucks.

The various important parts of the truck are the Engine, the Drive train and the frame.

Engine: An Engine forms the most important part of a truck as it decides the running capability of a truck and has to be carefully chosen to match the application for which the truck is intended to be used. Gasoline engines are generally used by small trucks like the pickups or SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles) and also by the medium duty trucks. However heavier trucks generally use four stroke turbo intercooler diesel engines and highway trucks employ locomotive-type engines which are either two-stroke or a V12 Detroit diesel engine. Most of the truck manufacturers in North America outsource the engine, whereas companies like Volvo and Mack Trucks use their own engines. Euro 5 regulations are complied with by all the truck engines in European nations in the interest of the environment.

Drive Train: Light duty trucks use transmission method similar to that of the cars which are either automatic or manual with synchornisers. Heavier trucks however use manual transmission without synchroniser that is less bulky. Crash boxes (transmissions without synchronizers) have a requirement of employing double clutching for every shift, called as “floating”. Generally North American setups include 9,10,13,15 and 18 speed levels. Semi-automatic or fully automatic transmission system is generally preferred to reduce the fuel consumption. In European market the gears may be of 8, 10 and 12 in case of manual transmission while for automatic transmission it might range anywhere between 5-12 gears. The trucks generally have range shift pattern in the gear system.

Frame: Two parallel boxed rails held together by cross members are the main composites of the frame of a truck. They may also be called as ladder frames since they resemble that of a ladder when tipped on end. Crossmembers are mostly attached to frame rails by using rivets or bolts, but sometimes may be welded in case of heavy duty application. The material used to make frame is generally steel but aluminium can also be a substitute to it.

Although trucks contribute to some pollution, they eject fewer air polluting emissions when compared to a car or any other vehicle, but still it contributes to a high level of sound pollution.

Have Look On Vacuum Trucks Financing

November 16th, 2008

In today’s economy, start up and seasoned businesses have an unique opportunity to acquire an attractive deal for any type of Vacuum truck with the possibility of special financing. The first option, for the buyer, is to visit their local dealer and find his truck there. This is great place to start and obtain pertinent information that will be used later in the data gathering process. From there, it is recommended searching the internet and its mass volume of data that is available.

The potential buyer can visit such sites as truck paper and truck trader etc to view thousands of listings of trucks available across the United States. He is able to sort and sift through this vast data and should be able to find a truck, in any city and/or state across the U.S, that meets his acquistion requirements. Once he has located a source of trucks available to him, he is able to contact these sellers and negotiate a deal that might be able to meet his needs. Once he is agreed to a price and its particulars, his next hurdle is to find adequate financing in today’s complex lending world of this commodity.

The manufacturers of Vacuum trucks we are identifying for this article are the following:

Peterbilt truck, Kenworth truck, Volvo truck, Mack truck, Freightliner truck, International truck, GMC truck, Sterling truck, Ford truck. These trucks may be new or used.

Additionally, these trucks will include a vacuum tank attached to the truck and will come in various years, makes, and models which contain various gallon capacities.

Today, the financing arena for Vacuum trucks has become much smaller. Lenders, in the past, that use to finance this niche market have either pulled their portfolio funds out of this area or have modified its lending requirements. It is not unheard of today that a start up business must commit to a down payment of between 10% - 30% of the acquistion cost of the Vacuum truck to enter this market. The seasoned business with good credit might be able to get in as little as one payment down plus documents fees but must have either A or B Credit. Other seasoned businesses that don’t meet these credit requirements, may be required to put up 10-20% down or either put up additional collateral as their credit scores fall below 600.

Most buyers don’t enjoy these tightening financial requirements, are locked out of this market, and will start looking for alternatives that are available due to market conditions. In addition to the market requirements of substantial monies due upfront, the conventional lender has modified his risk/reward factor for the failure and possible repossession of these trucks. Therefore, the rate and/or interest factor that the lender charges has gone up making it a bigger challenge to complete the financing end once the want to be buyer locates his acquisition.

By definition, a Vacuum off lease Truck has been returned to the lender as the lease has expired. The lessee has made a decision to return the item in lieu of exercising the buyout option. A repossession is different than an off lease because it has arisen due to a default of the lessee for non payment terms or a violation of the terms of the lease. Either way, the lender has taken these trucks back and/and now must recondition these trucks and either sell these trucks or re-lease them.

In conclusion, this is a buyer’s market for Vacuum trucks. One should evaluate all the factors relating to this acquisition including gas costs, air emissions, environmental type requirements., buyout clauses acquisition costs and its related financing. Additionally, there are two distinct financing markets out there, one for the normal acquisition from the dealership and the possibility of acquiring a repo and off lease from a lender at favorable market and financing terms. As always it is advisable, if possible, to locate financing prior to truck shopping, it could save a lot of time and stress.

Information On Toyota Truck

November 12th, 2008

You may have noticed that the truck market has become very hot lately. It seems that you don’t have to have construction type jobs to own a truck these days. In the past foreign trucks struggled with quality issues. Now a days all manufacturers have stepped up in quality and have produced their own profitable truck market segment.

The Toyota Tundra was previously known as a light-weight duty truck, but since 2007, the Tundra has upped the heavy-duty competitive bar. Toyota has also started an aggressive branding of their tundra line to compete more aggressively with American car manufacturers. By keeping the brand in front of the customer you slowly begin to program potential buyers into the fact that there is a better truck out there, and you don’t always have to buy American to get the best product. There newest commercials show the trucks being used by hard working laboring men in various jobs. This promotes some pride in the job and shows that it is ok to have a foreign truck doing an American job. This not only helps the bottom line for sales but also spurs on the transition from the industrial age to that of a global economy.

If you’re looking to buy a truck that is affordable and reliable, then Toyota might be the dealer to call on. The Toyota Tundra is well known for it’s heavy duty utility features and is appealing to many middle class families. Many people who work in the construction field look to buying a Toyota truck because of its quality. Heavy duty features are also promoted in television commercials which help you realize the quality design built into the truck. In the past foreign trucks did not always mean quality, just a lower price. They never really had a good reputation.

The Tundra also has 4 wheel drive, meaning that all wheels roll, verses the 2 wheel drive, where the two back tires push the front. You can buy a Tundra with different engines, so depending on how much torque you are looking for and how much heavy duty work you do, you will need to decide if you want a 4.7L V 8; 5.7L V8; or a 4.0L V 6. The lower the liters you get, the less oil you will have to worry about and the less gas it’ll burn. So if you do construction work and are looking for something that can survive toting around heavy tools, then you may only need a 4 liter. But if you are really into the construction field and are moving around large chunks of wood, heavy machinery and such, you may want to look at the 4.7L engine.

Besides the Toyota Tundra, there is the option of buying a Toyota Tacoma. This is truly a light-weight duty truck. There have been some changes to the Tacoma over the past few years and is now more spacious and comfortable to be in. The Toyota Tacoma pickup truck has 4 doors and a long crew cab. There are two choices of engines, the 4,0L V 6 or the 2.7L Inline 4. It can also tow up to 6,500 pounds.

Toyota manufacturers are known for producing quality vehicles and many people in the US love and purchase these Japanese owned vehicles. They are reliable and huge contender for Ford truck, Dodge truck and GMC truck . If you’ve been thinking about getting a Toyota Tundra or Tacoma, you might be making a really good decision.

Intrested In Buying Dump Truck

November 11th, 2008

Even with a limited number of things to move, your car can be too small and it will take many trips to get all things to another place. We have established ourselves on the Internet and are quickly becoming known in the business. Working advertising for trucks and trailers in the entire 50 states as our main source of revenue our company is doing well. Our entire sales team is excited and everyone is fighting for the top position as salesmen of the month.

There are a few common problems that many Truckers come across with the motorists.

1. Peek-a-boo! - Now you see them, now you don’t. This peek-a-boo game is very troublesome to truckers. Large trucks have several blind spots which make it hard for the drivers to see other motorists who like to hang out there. The best thing that you can do is either pass the truck or stay a comfortable distance behind them. When in doubt, check for the trucker’s side view mirrors. If you can see them, then chances are that they might be able to see you too.

2. Brake this habit – Many of us at one point or another gets stuck behind a large truck. So the most logical step would be to change the lanes to pass the truck away. No problems with that … the problem lies in a vehicle cutting back into the truck’s lane right in front of them, then braking for a turn or just slowing down, period. What most motorists don’t take into account is that truckers need a lot of space in order to slow down, at least two to three times the amount of passenger vehicles.

3. Teaching a lesson - Some drivers of passenger vehicles like to try and “teach” truckers a good lesson. Several times drivers think that the big Trucks and Trailers are either going too rapidly or slow. So they’ll speed up to pass the trucker and then get back in the trucker’s lane and slow down. Many parents tell their kids, “Worry about yourself,” and it would be smart for other motorists to heed that advice. Leave it to the troopers and policemen to enforce the laws of the road.

4. Back up and try again - In this day and age of technology, people are more accustomed to instant results and hate waiting for anything. Unfortunately, when big trucks have to back into a space, it may take a few tries to succeed. Motorists should appreciate the fact that these trucks are bigger than they are and let the truckers do their job. Patience can be a virtue!

By exercising a little of that common sense, many accidents involving Heavy Duty Trucks and Passenger vehicles could be avoided. That old adage, “It is better to be Safe than Sorry,” certainly applies here! Buying and Selling of new and used Trucks & Trailers like Dump Truck, International Trucks.

Major Safety Issues Related With Dump Truck

November 10th, 2008

Some safety measures should be taken care of by the drivers of dump trucks when they are driving it or loading materials into them. Lack of application of dump truck safety measures is the biggest cause of accident with these equipments.

With increasing length of dump truck bodies and semitrailer dumping rigs, there is higher tendency of them tipping over. Semitrailer dumping rigs are more prone to this kind of accident than used dump trucks. There is no statistics available about this type of accident, but people who are involved with the operation of these dump trucks are of the opinion that incidence of this kind accidents is increasing.

When the box is in raised position, there is a major safety issue with the stability of the end-dump unit. To avoid such an accident, the center of gravity of both the box and load should be kept between the frame rails of the unit.

Following conditions could affect the stability of dump trucks:
” The unit is not standing on level ground while dumping materials.
” Large amount of material is in the upper portion of the raised box.
” Materials do not flow out of the top portion of the box or from one side of the top portion
” Rear wheels settle unevenly when the load moves towards the rear during the process of dumping.
” Wind exerts lateral loads especially when the box is long. This problem is more common with end-dump semi-trailers.

Because semi-trailers are less stable, they should not be used for rough grading or filling areas with uneven surface are not tightly compacted.
Proper maintenance of these dump trucks is very important to avoid tip-overs. These could include:
” Checking tire pressure daily.
” Examining and lubricating pins.

While loading the box from front to back, it should not exceed the allowable gross weight and axle weight. It should be loaded as evenly as possible from side to side. If the material being loaded does not flow evenly, load in the top end of the box should be reduced.

Operators should get trained to recognize the areas where it would be hazardous to dump like soft or uneven surface or improperly compacted place. While dumping, it should be ensured that the tailgate is unlocked and the vehicle is standing on reasonably level surface. Some of them are Freightliner dump truck, International dump truck, Ford dump truck.

Have Look On Isuzu Trucks

November 9th, 2008

Isuzu trucks have been running up and down the highways of Australia for many years and have long had a reputation for being reliable workhorses. Today, there is a wide range of models available that are suitable for both driving around town or over longer distances up and down the highway.

The N Series offers a variety of models ranging from the NKR 200 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel through to the NQR 450 available in both medium and long wheelbase. The NQR 450 is powered by a 4-cylinder 16 valve SOHC direct injection turbocharged diesel engine pushing out 129kw of power at 2,600rpm. The transmission is a 6 speed manual synchromesh gearbox. The front axle has 3,100kg load capacity while the rear axle has 6,600kg load capacity. For the driver’s comfort, the cabin includes:
· tilt and telescopic adjustable steering column connecting a soft feel urethane steering wheel
· electric windows
· central locking
· two cup holders
· storage trays in the centre console
· air conditioning, heater and demister, and
· radio and CD player with digital anti-skip memory and optional CD stacker.

For those long days in the driver’s seat, the wide contoured driver’s bucket seat provides lumbar support and reclining adjustment. There’s also a bench seat that will seat two offsiders relatively comfortably.

For much larger loads there is the F Series range. The FVR 950 has a 6 cylinder, 4 stroke, 24 valve, SOHC, direct injection diesel engine that puts out 191kw at 2,500rpm. This is coupled to an Eaton Fuller 6 speed manual gearbox. The load capacity is 6,000kg for the front axle and 9,000kg for the rear axle. Inside the cabin, you’ll find much the same appointments as in the NQR 450 but you’ll get an Isringhausen full suspension seat for added comfort.

Isuzu make a wide range of trucks in the smaller to medium sized market. While most are medium and long wheelbase rigid models, there are also models catering to those who need a prime mover.

When buying any used truck, including an Isuzu, you need to be careful about the treatment it has received, so you’ll want to check everything out thoroughly. Make sure that there have been regular services. It might be a good idea to find one that has been driven by an owner driver/oneowner as they are more likely to have treated the truck properly out on the road and looked after it in the shed as apposed to a truck that may have been driven by a number of different drivers.

All About Various Types Of Trucks

November 7th, 2008

Trucks are generally large vehicles that are used to carry different goods and merchandise in bulk from one location to the other. The history of trucks is a long and interesting one, starting with the year 1769. This was the year when the steam-powered fardier was launched by Nicholas Cugnot. Even if this is considered to be the prime ancestor of the truck, the steam trucks first appeared in the 1800s. These were usually employed for horse and carriages and this is where it all started. The semi trailer was the next important step and this happened in 1890. The very first internal combustion engine was built by the famous Karl Benz in 1895, while Gottlieb Daimler came up with a similar engine three years later, followed by other prestigious car manufacturers in the upcoming years.

Once the engine was well developed, the tires became pneumatic, while before they were made of rubber. Next, the electric starters were added and the power brakes were also included. Meanwhile, the 2 cylinder engines were replaced by 4-6 or even 8 cylindered engines. Semi trailer trucks appeared and closed cabins together with electric lighting were in.

The manufacturing technology as well as the design of the trucks has been modified and improved and there are many variants of quality trucks available. Today, there are several types of trucks, categorized by size: ultra light trucks, very light trucks, light trucks, medium trucks, heavy trucks and off road trucks. Each of these trucks is built for a different purpose, and the truck users should know which the most suitable size of the vehicle they choose to drive is.

As mentioned earlier, there are many truck manufacturers, some of them specialize in manufacturing trucks only, and some of these make small cars as well. The manufacturer with the most sales in trucks is presently Daimler Chrysler, followed closely by Volvo truck. Other top manufacturers are PACCAR (the DAF trucks), Man, Scania, Hino Motors (made by the Toyota Group), Iveco (made by the Fiat Group), Nissan Diesel, Renault, Sisu Auto, Mercedes Benz, Avia Trucks, Mitsubishi, Mahindra and Mahindra, Chevrolet truck, Volkswagen, Freightliner truck and many others. As you can see, the manufacturers are spread all around the globe as the trucks are popular all around the globe.
